TRUST GOD

 

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding." — Proverbs 3:5

The world today celebrates science, technology, education, wealth, and human wisdom. These are gifts from God and can be useful, but they were never meant to replace God. Sadly, many people have shifted their confidence from the Creator to His creation. They trust their bank accounts more than God's promises, their connections more than God's favor, and human reasoning more than divine revelation.

God is calling us back to a life of complete dependence on Him. Trusting God is not wishful thinking; it is unwavering confidence in the faithfulness of the One who cannot lie. No one who has genuinely trusted God has ever been put to shame. His timing may differ from ours, and His methods may surprise us, but His promises never fail.

Whenever God gives us a promise, our natural tendency is to ask, "How will this happen?" We begin to calculate with our limited minds and judge God's ability by our circumstances. But faith does not rely on human understanding; it rests on God's unchanging character. Our responsibility is to believe and obey, while God's responsibility is to fulfill His Word.

The Scriptures are filled with men and women who trusted God against all odds. Abraham trusted God for a son when he and Sarah were far beyond childbearing age. Moses trusted God at the Red Sea when there seemed to be no way forward. Daniel trusted God in the lions' den. The three Hebrew boys trusted Him in the fiery furnace. None of them were disappointed because God always honors those who place their confidence in Him.

One remarkable example is found during the famine in Samaria (2 Kings 6–7). The famine became so severe that mothers resorted to eating their own children. In the midst of that hopeless situation, the prophet Elisha declared, "By this time tomorrow, there shall be abundance." A royal officer doubted God's Word and said such a thing was impossible, even if the windows of heaven were opened. Elisha replied that the man would see the miracle but would not partake of it. Exactly as God had spoken, abundance came the next day, but the officer died before he could enjoy it. His unbelief cost him the blessing.

Doubt limits our experience of God's promises, but faith positions us to receive them. What looks impossible to man is effortless for God, for "with God nothing shall be impossible" (Luke 1:37). When God speaks, He commits His integrity to bringing His Word to pass. He watches over His Word to perform it (Jeremiah 1:12).

The Bible declares, "The people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits" (Daniel 11:32). This raises an important question: Do you truly know God, or do you merely attend church as a religious routine? Knowing God is more than belonging to a denomination. It is having a living relationship with the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God who never changes, never fails, and never breaks His covenant.

We live in a generation where many trust science, governments, financial systems, and human philosophies more than they trust God. While these have their place, they are limited because they are created by imperfect people. Governments change. Economies fluctuate. Human wisdom fails. But God's Word remains forever. His voice is more dependable than the opinions of politicians, the conclusions of philosophers, or the reasoning of men.

The Psalmist declared, "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:7). Those who trust in earthly things will eventually be disappointed, but those who trust in God will stand firm.

God has exalted His Word above all His name (Psalm 138:2). His promises have stood the test of time, outlived kingdoms, and transformed countless lives across generations. Heaven and earth may pass away, but His Word will never pass away.

Today, choose to trust God completely. Trust Him with your family, your health, your career, your ministry, your finances, and your future. Even when you cannot trace His hand, trust His heart. The God who has never failed will not begin with you.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I surrender my fears, doubts, and worries to You. Give me the grace to trust You with all my heart and not lean on my own understanding. Strengthen my faith to believe Your Word even when circumstances seem impossible. Help me to know You more deeply and to walk confidently in Your promises. Let my life be a testimony that those who trust in You are never put to shame. In Jesus' name, Amen.
