Christ: The Lord
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am.” — John 13:13 “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake.” — 2 Corinthians 4:5 Jesus Christ is not only our Saviour; He must also be our Lord. Salvation brings us into a relationship with Christ, but true Christianity means surrendering our lives to His lordship. The true mark of a Christian is not merely saying, “Jesus is my Saviour,” but willingly submitting to Him as Lord of all . When Christ is Lord, He takes the lead and we follow. We do not follow Him only when His instructions are convenient or agreeable to us; we follow Him because He is Lord. In Exodus 9:1 , God told Pharaoh to let His people go so that they might serve Him. Israel was not delivered from Egypt simply to live for themselves; they were delivered so that they could belong to God and serve Him.
