Love Beyond Reason: Embracing the Unconditional Heart of Christ
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to you for your constant love and commitment to reading our blog. God bless you richly. Today, we’re reaching out from the city of Mowe, Ogun State, with a message that is close to our hearts.
The love of Christ has no reason—it’s pure, boundless, and unconditional. It’s this kind of love that made me realize that genuine love cannot be tethered to conditions or expectations. True love is not transactional. Only a self-centered heart would love based on what it can receive or benefit from. To love with a reason is to love in a way that is conditional, a way that can be manipulated, even if unintentionally.
When we start placing conditions on our love, our giving, or our service, it shifts from being pure to being calculated, and that doesn’t align with the love of Christ. For example:
Parents, don’t shower gifts on your children only when they achieve high grades. Celebrate them always, just as God celebrates us.
Bosses, don’t reserve your kindness or encouragement only for when employees perform exceptionally well. Appreciate their value in every season.
Lovers, don’t tie your affection to specific actions or reasons. Let your love be an unwavering force, reflecting the unconditional love Christ has for us.
The ultimate example of this love is the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He died for us out of pure love, even when we were unworthy and undeserving. This was, and is, the greatest display of unconditional love. In Christ, we find the perfect model—love without strings attached, love without limits.
So, let us take on the mind of Christ and love in the same way. Imagine a world where love knows no bounds, where each act of kindness, each word of encouragement, and each embrace is offered simply for the joy of loving, reflecting the heart of Christ.
As a story to close, I recall a friend who would always help her neighbor carry heavy bags of groceries up three flights of stairs every weekend. One day, the neighbor asked, "Why do you keep doing this?" My friend simply smiled and said, "Because I’m blessed to love without a reason, just as God loves me." That, I think, is how God intends for us to love.
May we all be inspired to love beyond reason, with a heart as open as Christ's, and to let that love transform those around us.
