The Faithfulness of God
“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” Numbers 23:19
God’s faithfulness is one of the greatest reasons we can trust Him. If God says it, He will do it. If He makes a promise, He remains committed to His word. Unlike human beings, whose promises can change because of circumstances, God never changes, even when circumstances change. He is dependable in every season.
The Bible says, “God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear” (1 Corinthians 10:13). Even in temptation and trials, God does not abandon His children. He provides a way of escape and gives us grace to endure.
There was once a young man who lost his job shortly after getting married. His bills increased, opportunities seemed to disappear, and people who had promised to help stopped answering his calls. One evening, discouraged and confused, he opened his Bible and read, “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing” (Psalm 23:1). He prayed, “Lord, I may not understand what You are doing, but I choose to trust Your faithfulness.”
Weeks later, someone he had helped years ago contacted him and offered him a better job. What looked like a closed season became a testimony of God’s provision.
This is why our confidence must not rest in men. Jeremiah 17:5 warns against putting our trust in human beings. Men can fail, but God cannot fail.
Satan wants to keep us busy with the cares of this world so that we neglect God’s Word. But the Scriptures contain His promises, wisdom, encouragement, and hope.
Spend time studying and meditating on God’s Word. His promises remain true, His character remains unchanged, and His faithfulness endures forever.
