MY MEAT

 

“My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish His work.” — John 4:34

In the Bible days, meat was often used as a picture of food and nourishment. But Jesus gave it a deeper meaning when He described doing the Father’s will as His meat. In other words, the work of God was nourishment and satisfaction to Jesus.

Jesus asked Peter, “Lovest thou me more than these?” Peter answered, “Lord, thou knowest that I love thee.” Jesus replied, “Feed my lambs.” This shows us that our love for God must be demonstrated through obedience and service.

Until the work God has given us becomes like food that sustains us daily, we have not fully embraced His purpose for our lives. Our daily bread is connected to our willingness to do God’s will.

When Peter obeyed Jesus and experienced a great catch of fish, he learned that fishing for men brings greater value to heaven. The food of this world may satisfy the body temporarily, but earthly things will eventually perish.

“My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me.” When God’s will becomes your priority, your life will find true satisfaction.

Receive Jesus today, follow His will, and you shall be satisfied.
