PSALM 23 — PART 1
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
Today, we are reminded of one of the most beautiful pictures of Jesus: He is our Shepherd. A shepherd does not abandon his sheep; he leads, protects, provides for, and cares for them.
Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” The true Shepherd knows His sheep personally and leads them to places of peace, rest, and nourishment. When danger comes and the wolves attack, the shepherd stands to defend his sheep. He watches over them because their lives matter to him.
In the same way, Jesus cares deeply about us. He knows our needs even before we ask, and He is able to provide according to His perfect will. When we allow Him to lead us, we do not have to live in fear of tomorrow.
The greatest need of humanity is not wealth, possessions, or success—it is Jesus in our hearts. Jesus should never be treated merely as a want; He is our greatest need.
The world is filled with trouble, darkness, and uncertainty, but Jesus remains the answer. If the Lord is your Shepherd, you are never alone.
